The prime reason for installing the units was theft recovery. Hirepool self insure and experience theft of $150k of equipment and machinery annually. All machinery stolen since installation of the Starcom hardware has been recovered. An ancillary benefit occurred recently when one of their trucks failed to return from a scheduled task. Hirepool ran a replay and were eventually able to locate the vehicle 100m down a steep bank. Had they not been able to locate the vehicle, it is possible that the driver would have died.
